Handwoven textiles from the Argentinean Andes

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally seriously delving into the wild and wonderful world of weaving. This first collaboration is with a weaving cooperative in the province of Catamarca, in western Argentina. They are principally wool spinners, and also expert dyers, working with both natural dyes and synthetics (mainly because they get a little bit bored with the natural palette available to them, which is brown / beige / ochre; beautiful but admittedly a bit limited so can't blame them). 

Our first piece together started off as a watercolor sketch and resulted in a gorgeous wool ruana, dyed with onion skins (for the camel color) and synthetic dyes for the range of pinks. See the process below:
